Here I gathered information regarding questions I always asked about digital cinematography.
Many of this is still hard to understand for me. As cinematographer and photographer I
grew up with film. I still shoot a lot on film. My favourite still cameras are a Nikon FE-2,
Hasselblad X-Pan and Contax 465 medium format. I am familiar with gamma curves, the zone system
and the characteristics of different film stocks. A lot of it I learned reading Anselm Adams
books "The Negative" and "The Positive". He is not only one of the best fine art photographers
of all times. He knew a lot about the secrets of high end photographic reproduction and told
about it in his books.
Step
by step I understand how to use the possibility of HD cameras and avoid the problems. I am glad
to share my knowledge about digital cinemtography. Knowing about the technical issues we all
can
do
a better
job.
Creating breathtaking
images
to tell our
stories
without
being
afraid to mess them up because of some stupid technical problem.
